Tim that location is only 4 miles from my house .I heared about it but as it is the end of the loggerheads path assumed ,that the reptiles it mentioned would be adders and common lizards.I dont know of a grass snake being spotted there for a good few years.I will have to get to Rhydymwyn next spring.

I had a wedding in Llangollen on friday and had to drive past you know where,I was suited and booted but temptation almost got the better of me,footwear dictated that I stayed in the car.I think I know the development that the slow worms may have come from though ,there is a new block of appartments right in what looks perfect sloy country just down the rd from the campsite.

Posted: 15 Mar 2007 Topic: reptile spotting

Hi everyone,

This is my first post on the forum,I was looking for advice really.Ive been spotting since I was 7 (im now 37)but until last year didnt bother looking till April time.Last year by chance while taking my daughter to look for frogs ,we stumbled on some common lizards in fact 13 of them by the end!Due to the lack of foliage they were easy to see.Anyway to get to the point its promised to be 7degrees on sunday ,my fav adder haunt is 40 miles away is it worth the journey for us?

regards

Dave

I live near Mold, used to live by Loggerheads where there used to be an abundance of reptiles.Llandeglas just one of many sites we visit, still yet to see an adder this year or a slow worm.

Yeah,we have frogs toads and newts in the garden, but her favs are lizards. She will not hold newts for some reason ,apparantly because they are too stinky.(shes only 2).

Llangollen is renowned for slow worms and adders ,unfortunatly this year my visits have been to photograph weddings,I might make an attempt next week to see if I can find a suitable spot for slow worms and then I m back at the wild pheasant for a wedding on friday.I must admit I have never really tried Llangollen for reptiles myself but my desperation for slow worms is getting the best of me.

Youre a star Tim ,after seeing 5 common lizards a newt and 2 toads, just as I was heading back home and 31 years after my first search,I finally found a slow worm. Here it is in its full glory with a couple of old favs thrown in.

Thanks so much Tim.
